Neighbourhood Priorities

The Safer Neighbourhood Team and Local Council Staff have received a number of reports of anti-social behaviour being conducted on the grounds of St Andrews Church, Shifnal.  Other people using the area are feeling intimidated by groups of youths in the area, some of whom are smoking cannabis and others are inhaling nitrous oxide gas.

 

Issue Date Tuesday 19th May 2015

August 2018.  Safer Neighbourhood Team Officers are aware of the issues that have been reported in the grounds of St Andrew's Church and will continue to conduct patrols in the area in an effort to deter such behaviour.

07 September 2018.  Patrols have been conducted in the area of concern, no incidents of anti-social behaviour have been reported at this time.

25 September 2018.  Trials are being conducted with Closed Circuit television cameras to see if there are suitable systems to monitor areas that have had several reports of anti-social behaviour.  It is hoped that any such CCTV will be able to operate at all times of the day and night and provide sufficient clear imagery to identify those involved in any behaviour that may be of interest to the Police.  While this research is undertaken normal patrol activity in the area has continued to deter and/or identify anyone involved in any anti-social behaviour. 

14 October 2018.  Patrols have been conducted in the area of concern, no incidents of anti-social behaviour have been reported at this time.

30 October 2018.  SNT Officers continue to conduct patrols in the area to deter any anti-social behaviour in the area of the park.  There have been no more reports of such behaviour.

16 November 2018.  There have been incidents of anti-social behaviour taking place at the Shifnal Millennium Sensory Garden which have caused alarm and distress to staff and those who frequent the garden.  There has been a media release asking for any information that may assist in identifying those involved to be passed to the Police.

13 December 2018 - There have been no reports of anti-social behaviour in the area of the park or Sensory Garden.  The Police have taken a number of measures to try and identify those involved in the behaviour at the Sensory gardens.

30 January 2019 - The Police are continuing to work in partnership with a number of agencies to put measures in place to either prevent anti-social behaviour, or to enable those involved in such behaviour to be identified so that appropriate Police action can be taken against them.

28 February 2019 - Measure put in place to deter anti-social behaviour in the park appear to have been effective as their have been no new reports of such behaviour.

06 April 2019 - Safer Neighbourhood Team Officers have continued to patrol the areas traditionally affected by anti-social behaviour, there have been no reports linked to the grounds of the Church.

27 April 2019 - SNT Officers continue to conduct patrols in the area to deter any anti-social behaviour in the area of the park.  There have been no more reports of such behaviour.

28 May 2019 - While there have been reports of anti-social behaviour in other areas of Shifnal, none have been reported in the area of the church grounds.  Patrols of the church grounds will continue and other areas that have been affected by anti-social behaviour.

28 June 2019 - There have been no reports of anti-social behaviour in the area of the church grounds.

August 2019 - Police action in the area appears to have had a positive effect and there have been no further reports of anti-social behaviour linked to this location.

30 May 2019 - Safer Neighbourhood Team Officers are continuing to conduct patrols both on foot and in marked Police vehicles in the area.  Due to a reduction in the number of incidents in the Church Grounds, patrols are also being conducted elsewhere in the town.

27 June 2019 - Patrols continue to be conducted in the area and will be also be conducted over the period of the Shifnal Carnival.

23 July 2019 - School holidays have started and Safer Neighbourhood Team Officers will be increasing patrolling of areas where there have been previous reports of youth related anti-social behaviour, including the grounds of St Andrew's Church.

24 August 2019.  Patrols continue to tae place throughout the town, focusing on areas where there have been previous reports of anti-social behaviour.
