  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
Neighbourhood Policing…
  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

ASB at Templars Square and Upper Bar, Cowley

Issue Date Wednesday 22nd May 2024

We have had reports from local residents around Templars Square and Upper Bar, Cowley regarding street drinking, drug use, and graffiti. We are working closely with the council, housing authorities and also local retails stores regarding target hardening the location, as well as high visibility patrols of the area to prevent offences, and deal with any reported crimes robustly. Resolving these issues will not only have a positive effect for local residents, but also customers entering Templars square shopping centre. There is a Public Space Protection Order in place regarding street drinkers at this location, and this legislation will be used to robustly deal with offences.

ASB caused at Craufurd Road, Oxford

Issue Date Wednesday 22nd May 2024

We have had numerous reports from the community regarding youths gathering around residential addresses on Craufurd Road, Oxford. This has been identified from speaking to the community and residents, and the anti-social behaviour consists of noise late at night, drugs and alcohol being consumed, littering, and disruption being caused to local residents. We are working with the council to prevent public access being gained to communal garden areas, target hardening the location, and working with housing authorities to identify offenders. We are routinely patrolling the area to prevent further issues, and speaking directly to those most affected.

Drug supply in Florence park and surrounding areas

Issue Date Tuesday 27th February 2024

Update - 04/04/24 - We have seen a significant reduction in reports of drug supply in and around Florence Park. We believe this is because of completing daily high visibility patrols of the area, and have been proactively searching the area for persons suspected to be involved in drug supply and associated ASB. During patrols we have completed stop checks, and have arrested a male wanted for a burglary in the area. We will continue to patrol the area through the summer to ensure this is a safe place for the community to enjoy.

Update 04/04/24 – We have obtained a closure order for an address on Brasenose Driftway, to assist with the prevention of any further ASB or criminality taking place at the address. We are regularly enforcing this court order, and our patrols appear to have had a positive impact on reducing crime reports in the area, and we are continuing to work with partner agencies to tackle any further issues

Reduction in Drug use and associated ASB on Reliance Way, Cowley

Issue Date Monday 22nd January 2024

Update 04/04/24 – We have completed daily patrols of the associated areas of concern reported by the local community. We have worked with housing agencies to make outbuildings secure, and to reduce reports of ASB in the area. Whilst there has been a reduction in reports, we will continue to be visible in the area, especially in the late evenings to ensure there is not a reoccurrence of ASB throughout the summer months.
