Rotherham South

A local policing neighbourhood in South Yorkshire Police

The information on this page is provided by South Yorkshire Police. If any of it is incorrect, or incomplete, or out of date, please don't complain to us, please get in touch with your local police force and politely ask them to ensure that they update their information at data.police.uk.

We are a non emergency team. Feel free to contact us directly or via 101. We deal with the neighbourhood issues that concern you but aren't an emergency. These range from anti social behaviour, off road bikes, neighbour disputes to general patrols to engage with you. This is over a varied area ranging from urban to rural. We work alongside partners at Maltby police station as part of the wider Rotherham partnership so we can assist in non police issues such as trading standard. This gives us the best opportunity to achieve our aim of making Rotherham South as safe as possible.

Our priorities are generated by what we are told at our community meetings. If you think we need to focus our resources on something please come along and let us know.

POLICE AND PARTNERS TO WORK TOWARDS REDUCTION IN DWELLING, BUSINESS ANDGARAGE BURGLARIES.

Issue Date Wednesday 24th April 2024

There have been numerous engagement activities with the locality where advice is offered and practical measures such as faraday pouches being given out is completed. Please look for your next one locally and say hello to our staff.

We regularly utilise data to map hotspots and patrol those to maximise deterrence. A new area is now identified and we are working with detectives to formulate an operation to make that area safer. Watch this space.

A recent success and well received activity is an operation around Swallownest. Historically affected and with target hardening, patrols, advice stalls and visits to addresses, we have built on the successes of our detective colleagues and this area is now much improved. This work will continue and spread throughout areas most affected.

We know there is much more to do. Please give us any information you have no matter how small.
If you cannot make any of our events please take time to research keyless thefts in particular. This will help you to protect your homes.

OFF ROAD MOTORCYCLES

Issue Date Monday 22nd April 2024

The team conducts patrols in various areas to target this problem.
Recently we have refreshed visits to garage forecourts to gather intelligence and request that premises do not provide the fuel. You may have also seen other leaflets requesting information about who owns these bikes and where they are kept. Please keep reporting this information via 101 or crimestoppers.

We have forged good links with landowners to try and prevent land being used in the first place. This work continues.

Our rural crime/Off road bike team conduct regular patrols with Rotherham South. We have had some considerable successes most recently two individuals found on stolen off road bikes. These are seized and destroyed. The offenders are going to court.

Anyone found with or using off road bikes unlawfully will be engaged with. They may have the bikes taken from them. We are working with partners at RMBC to look at tenancy enforcement should this behaviour be a breach of a tenancy agreement.

Work is always ongoing in this area as the problem is large and widespread. Please continue to report activity and more importantly report who owns these bikes and where they keep them.

Action Date Monday 22nd April 2024

ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Issue Date Monday 22nd April 2024

We regularly conduct joint patrols with RMBC for visibility and reassurance in the area. This also has a diversionary element to assist young people engage in better choices.

We take part in organised litter picks and liaison with RMBC .

We liaise with local housing providers to take action against tenants with youths who are perpetrators of ASB

We use your calls to prioritise hotspot areas. A recent success has been Maltby leisure centre. It was an unreported problem and once we were made aware conducted patrols targeting youths causing annoyance to staff and the public. This has led to a massive reduction in issues and the facility is there to be enjoyed peacefully.

Similar activity has taken place on the bus network within Thurcroft.

Please report any issues via 101 as this really does help us to direct our resources in the best way.
