Neighbourhood Priorities

Retail crime across the city.

Issue Date Monday 1st April 2024

To address this priority we have carried out the below:
- Focusing on the most prolific offenders, locating them, and arresting/charging them with theft offences.
- Criminal Behaviour Orders issued to three individuals who are prolific offenders.
- Conducting high vis patrols across retail areas in the city.
- Creating and updating problem solving plans
- Encouraging reporting of offences by shops
- Working with retailers to improve security and install further theft deterring measures.

Drug use, drug dealing and associated crime and anti-social behaviour in the Eastern Mile Cross ward.

Issue Date Monday 1st April 2024

To address this priority we have carried out the below:
- Two weeks of intensive proactive patrols by Community Policing Team.
- Letter drops completed and given to residents to engage and understand issues in the area.
- Proactive drugs warrant executed on an address on Berners St causing disruption.
- Visiting addresses of vulnerable people around drugs and anti-social behaviour – team directing vulnerable people to Change Grow Live and working closely in partnership with them.
- Promotion of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes among community with some interested parties.
- Partnership working alongside council with some proactive walkabouts in the area engaging with residents.

Street drinking, alcohol related crime and anti-social behaviour on Prince of Wales Road and surrounding areas.

To address this priority we have carried out the below:
- Regular targeted patrols by officers at various times of day.
- Engagement with nearby school and parents including patrols around school leaving times.
- Two CPW’s and two CPN’s have been issued and targeted at the most prolific offenders who are causing issues.
- Licensed premises visit during football match days
- Enforcement day (3 May) with four licensed premises visiting with Licensing, two arrests for thefts and public orders offences and a Section 35 dispersal notice issued.
- Engaging with the local businesses
