Neighbourhood Priorities

Violence Against Women and Girls - VAWG - Harrow Weald Safer Neighbourhood Team is committed in the reduction in violent crime including in those crime committed against women and girls.

Officers have been engaging with local community groups and lone females when on patrol to offer crime prevention advice and security advice. Officers are maintaining a visible presence in high crime areas utilising marked vehicles when appropriate. Plain clothes operations have been utilised across open spaces on late shifts to combat violence against women and girls.

Reduce Drugs related activity in the High St and environs, also both open spaces Boxtree Park and Cedars open space

Proactive and reactive patrols have been conducted across Harrow Weald and surrounding areas over the last 3 months, this has resulted in several persons being stopped and searched for drugs with positive results. Officers have been utilising unmarked vehicles to combat transient drug supply. Officers have arrested an individual for drug possession and driving whilst under the influence of drugs as a result. Recently our officers conducted a Warrant under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act on an address on the ward.

Aim to reduce Theft from motor vehicles and burglary through increased crime prevention awareness.

Over the last several months officers have been utilising ANPR cameras to target vehicular offenders across harrow weald, this has led to hundreds of vehicles being stopped with several being seized for no insurance, several drivers being reported for traffic offences and good intelligence gathered from these stops. Our officers have been targeting vehicles suspected to be involved in ASB and fly tipping, this has led to several intelligence based stops resulting in referrals to our partner agencies for prosecution
