Proactive patrols in hotspot areas - anti-social behaviour

Issue Date Wednesday 24th January 2024

12 warning letters issued - nine are stage one, and three stage two. Stage one letters are issued to outline what action the person is required to take or stop within a set time period. This is an opportunity to modify behaviour without any formal sanctions being taken. This is issued at the point of the person being further identified as to being responsible for causing or being involved in anti-social behaviour in the locality and typically within 12 months of a Stage 1 warning letter already being issued. Both Stage one and two warnings stay “live” for a 12-month period from date of issue.

Three Joint Disciplinary Panel (JDP) referrals. One has been heard and resulted in an extension of Youth Offending Team (YOT) inputs. There are also two more stage one warning letters soon to be issued. We are awaiting conformation from legal services to issues a full Community Protection Notice.

We have seen significant reductions in lower-level ASB from one of the main groups in town, however we are seeing more activity from the Deepdale group. We will continue to keep this issue on our priorities as we get into the warmer months.

We have seized two E-Scooters and issued Traffic Offence Reports (TOR).

We have completed nine community engagements with two including Cyber Crime and two engagements involving the use of the Eddie Van, the Force's digital mobile display screen.

We have assisted Trading Standards with the closure of the vape shop in Upgate.

We have been monitoring traffic and issues one TOR, and one person was arrested for disqualified driving and their vehicle seized.

Pubwatch has been successful. with seven more people added to the banning list.

Shopwatch - We are in the process of arranging meetings to discuss way forward.

Drug Supply and associated criminality

Issue Date Wednesday 24th January 2024

This priority is ongoing under the name Operation Deepdale. There have been 39 pieces of intelligence submitted since the priority was sent and five searches completed with one JDP conviction. The intelligence has identified areas of interest and have allowed police to target certain areas and we are beginning to get a better understanding of the drugs scene surrounding this group. Consideration to look at warrants following the Easter Break. This priority needs to continue for another quarter to allow us to continue building the intelligence picture.
