The Hinckley Town Centre neighbourhood beat is predominately commercial with a mixture of retail outlets, entertainment areas, offices and licensed premises. It is a busy town area during the day and becomes a bustling area at night with its array of pubs, clubs and bars.

The beat covers the St Mary's Primary School, which is situated right in the heart of the town, next to St Mary's parish church.

Neighbourhood Priorities

There has been a pattern of anti-social behaviour which has been identified as a current community issue occurring in the location of Hinckley Town Centre.

Several areas have been identified as challenging locations including Castle Street, The Crescent and Sainsburys Car Park, Rugby Road, Hinckley.

The peak times anti-social behaviour is occurring is from 3pm until late in the evening on weekdays and weekends.

The anti-social behaviour involves persons accessing roofs of local business premises without permission. On occasion throwing items from the roofs and causing damage to those roofs and access points.

More recently intelligence surrounding access to derelict premises have been reported.

Information surrounding persons and vehicles acting in an anti-social manner in Sainsburys car park is currently being dealt with as a priority.

Persons being anti-social towards shop staff members and security teams on The Crescent, Hinckley.

This priority has been identified by carrying out community interactions with members of the town centre community.

Hinckley Town Beat Officers have been working with partner agencies around Town Centre, tackling Anti-Social Behaviour.

There had been repeated reports of young persons gaining access to derelict buildings along with roofs of local business premises. Several young persons had been identified and a number of warning letters have been issued.

Some local businesses have raised concerns about dangerous cycling on Castle Street. Town Centre officers have offered words of advice to several persons for dangerous cycling. Further to this education has been provided to those continuing to cycle in the restricted area as a preventative measure. Reports of anti-social cycling have reduced since these reports.

The Hinckley Town Centre Beat Team work closely with local partners and businesses to deter and detect theft across the town.

Shop Theft is a concern to local and national retailers.

Theft from person (pickpocket) offences have also been identified as organised groups try to commit theft offences in busy town centres.

Sales of counterfeit goods has also been raised by local retailers.

This priority has been identified by carrying out community interactions with members of the town centre community.

Hinckley Town Centre Officers are actively working with retailers and partner agencies to identify suspects for retail crime.

The town centre officers also link in with other regional and national Police forces to identify organised groups travelling in to the area.

A number of offenders with multiple offences to their name have been arrested as part of pro-active work. The work to identify these offenders is ongoing

A number of issues have been raised around the Night Time Economy in Hinckley Town Centre and premises have identified the following -

Use of counterfeit currency in licenced premises and retail premises in the town centre.

Use of fake identification in licenced premises across the town centre.

Anti-social behaviour caused by persons previously banned from licenced premises in the town centre.

This priority has been identified by carrying out community interactions with members of the town centre community during June 2023.

Hinckley Town Centre Officers have again been working closely with local licenced premises. Sharing of information between venues has established a greater support in preventing individuals currently banned from entering several licensed premises across the Town Centre.

Officers took part in spiking awareness week in mid march and informed persons in the town centre about the dangers of spiking.

Officers from the team are also still active in supporting the Hinckley and Bosworth Pub Watch group.
