Issue Date Monday 1st April 2024

The beat team have been patrolling local hotspots and have been working with partner agencies to deal with current ongoing ASB issues. There was a report of youths smoking cannabis and upsetting the local community of the park that is just off Pollards Road in Anstey. Regular patrols have been conducted; advice passed onto a suspect as well as family of the suspect advised of the incident. Since this has
been actioned, there has been no recent reports of ASB. The beat team will continue to patrol around the local parks however we believe some of these issues have now moved onto the allotments on Anstey Lane and Groby Road where there have been some reports of criminal damage to some of the sheds as well as the sheds being used by youths to smoke cannabis. These are areas the beat team have added to the patrol plans

Cropston Road, Anstey
Bradgate Road, Anstey

Groby Lane, Newtown Linford
Leicester Road, Thurcaston
Station Road, Cropston

Issue Date Monday 1st April 2024

We undertook some overt speed checks on the 22/05/2024 with the intention of giving out some speeding fines if vehicles were found to be speeding within the thresholds that we set out beforehand. Leicester Road in Thurcaston: Within a half hour period there were 21 cars checked via the speed gun and all of these vehicles were driving within the speed limit being 30 and under.

Station Road in Cropston: Our intention was to be in the area for half an hour or so to monitor the speeding of vehicles on Station Road however officers were called to a road traffic incident and only managed to be in the area for around 10 minutes, however in those 10 minutes there were 5 cars monitored and were all doing 30 or under when checked via the speed gun.

Main Street in Newtown Linford: Within a half hour period 59 vehicles were checked via the speed gun.
No vehicles were speeding excessively, although some drivers were stopped and given words of advice for travelling slightly over the speed limit.

Last months disappointing speed check results across the villages have been passed to the Road safety partnership for assessment. After consideration, highlighted locations have been added to the enforcement list for the speed camera van to monitor in due course.

The beat team aim to tackle anti social motorbike use in Anstey utilising road traffic and anti social behaviour legislation

Issue Date Monday 1st April 2024

We continue to work on minimising the disruption caused by illegal offroad motorbikes and continue to patrol hotspots, including the rugby field off Link Road. Police have been working with the Parish Council regarding issues on the rugby fields and the Parish have previously put a bike restriction in. The Police and Parish are still having complaints regarding bikes on the fields however this unfortunately, is only coming from one source. If this is a persistent problem in the area then we ask that the community to please report these issues in numbers to both the Police and the Parish. The beat team will continue to patrol these areas when time allows.
