Neighbourhood Priorities

Nuisance motorbikes using footpaths and other open spaces within the ward

Issue Date Monday 3rd June 2024

Recognising the significant impact that community concerns can have, we are fully committed to collaborative efforts with our partner agencies and local communities to enhance safety and resilience in our neighbourhoods.
Under Operation Yellowfin, we've engaged with the supportive members of the community who appreciate our initiatives. The deployment of officers on specialised motorcycles directly addresses issues affecting our neighbourhoods adversely. We actively cultivate relationships with the local biker community, businesses, and residents, seeking their support and input to effectively confront and resolve these challenges.
Our commitment to listening remains steadfast. We encourage local residents and businesses to share their experiences, providing valuable feedback that informs our targeted responses. During the summer months, we focus on identified hotspot areas with increased reported incidents. Our comprehensive approach includes both highly visible and undercover patrols, community surgeries, and regular updates through #MyCommunityAlert to keep residents informed of our ongoing actions.
If you possess information that can contribute to our ongoing efforts or know about locations where motorcycles are stored for antisocial or criminal activities, we urge you to reach out. You can call 101 or connect with your local neighbourhood policing team. For those hesitant to report directly to the police, anonymous reporting is possible through the independent charity CrimeStoppers at 0800 555 111 or by visiting our website for more details.
Keep an eye out for our specialist off-road bikes in the coming weeks and months. We extend our gratitude to our communities and partners for their unwavering support of our shared mission.

Lovells Building Site, Tottenham Close

Issue Date Monday 3rd June 2024

With the warmer weather and the lighter nights, we have seen a significant rise in children trespassing on building sites.
Building sites pose significant dangers, particularly for children, who might see them as exciting playgrounds. These areas are filled with hazards such as heavy machinery, unstable structures, and exposed electrical wiring, all of which can lead to serious injury or even death.
Beyond the immediate physical dangers, children who trespass on these sites are also contributing to substantial criminal damage, which disrupts construction projects and incurs considerable costs.
The Police are actively investigating recent cases of vandalism on building sites, and those found responsible will face appropriate legal consequences.
It's imperative for parents and guardians to educate children about these dangers and the serious implications of trespassing.

Reduce Crime and ASB

Issue Date Monday 3rd June 2024

We have collaborated closely with the council, neighbourhood nuisance teams, and housing associations to address instances of anti-social behaviour in the community.
Conducting Humber Talking and partnering with various agencies, we've engaged in area walks to gather valuable insights from residents. This proactive approach allows us to identify concerns and address issues caused by disruptive individuals within the estate.
Our commitment extends beyond school holidays, as we strive to maintain a visible presence and take affirmative action against those impacting the community negatively.
Visit our Meetings and Events page to find opportunities to connect with our team, attend informative sessions, and share any information or concerns you may have. Your active participation is crucial to creating a safer and more harmonious environment for everyone.

Shoplifting

Issue Date Monday 3rd June 2024

An increasing number of shops and businesses are now more willing to report incidents of shoplifting, and this proactive approach is instrumental. Thorough investigation is only possible when crimes are reported, and we have observed that such reports are leading to successful prosecutions, especially in terms of theft.
In addition to forging strong partnerships with businesses, we have intensified targeted patrols in hotspot areas significantly impacted by retail crime. Our commitment extends to sharing crime prevention advice with businesses and shop owners, empowering them to safeguard their establishments and staff against shoplifters.
We acknowledge that shoplifting is not a victimless crime; it has tangible effects on our local communities. By fostering collaboration and providing resources for prevention, we aim to create a safer environment for businesses and residents alike.

Drug Dealing

Issue Date Monday 3rd June 2024

Humberside Police is aware of reports of drug dealing in the area and is actively monitoring the situation. We recognise that the supply of controlled substances can severely impact communities, often leading to increased crime and anti-social behaviour. Such activities can cause a long-term decline in the quality of life in your neighbourhood.

We are committed to preventing this deterioration and ask for your support by continuing to report any suspected criminal or anti-social behaviour directly to the police. Your information enables us to take action where possible, including conducting Misuse of Drugs Act warrants as a direct result of public reports.

For those who prefer to remain anonymous, you can report through the independent charity CrimeStoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting their website for more details. Your cooperation is crucial in our efforts to combat this issue.
