Shop theft was raised at the annual parish meeting and statistics show that no significant increase or decrease at this time.

Patrols will continue to conduct high visibility patrolling after school times on King Street, Northgate and Hall gate and obtain information and intelligence on regular shoplifters to identify offenders.

There has been a spike in Burglaries/theft of motor vehicles in the East Riding/West Hull boarder over the last two months. These have been targeting a mixture of vehicles where houses are entered to steal keys in ‘Hanoi’ style and others which motorcycles have been stolen from outside of.

Further hi visibility patrols will be utilized over the coming months, some offenders linked to offences have already been arrested through Neighbourhood policing team enquiries.

There are plenty of simple steps motorists can take to prevent becoming a victim of Hanoi-style burglaries… parking your car in a garage if possible, keeping car keys out of view and easy reach, locking doors and windows, and using a wheel clamp.

Humberside Police also advise keeping valuable property hidden from view and making sure that lights are left on at various times, to give the impression that someone is home. In addition to this, particular emphasis is placed upon the need for reliable and effective house alarms, secure door locks, windows containing locks and CCTV systems in place, where possible.
