Neighbourhood Priorities

Drug dealing

As with last year’s survey the number one priority highlighted was Drug Dealing. Also linked to this was County Lines which featured in the top ten list.

Both Bournemouth East NPT Teams are committed to focusing on street dealing, disrupting the wider supply chain and repeat key offenders. To achieve this, we rely on local community intelligence that is reported through the 101 system or on-line form, this is often our start point as you witness these acts day to day. This intelligence is then collated into daily emails and weekly Countywide meetings as part of Op Scorpion which is a PCC supported Operation that allows our officers to have the most up to date and relevant intel as possible when out on the ground.

Within the community we will be patrolling the places and times specified by you. We will be targeting the addresses used through court warrants, proportionate and justifiable use of stop search powers and the seizure of items found.

This will ultimately have a positive impact on the local community as a whole and a safeguarding effect on vulnerable victims.

Anti-Social Behaviour In recent surveys you highlighted Anti-Social Behaviour one of your main concerns. This is a highly emotive topic as it can affect you at home, work or during leisure time. We understand that you need someone to stand in the gap with you when you are faced with behaviours like this and it can come in many forms – noise issues, littering, fly tipping, verbal abuse, graffiti, problem neighbours, community disruption, drug use, rough sleeping, problem youths or adult groups. Please continue to support us by reporting it online or through the 101 system. It is also worth checking the BCP Council website as they have dedicated Teams to assist with some of these matters.

We as your local Team have and will continue to do the following to assist you -
A dedicated Police Officer and PCSO to manage your ward area. (see the officers above) Increased High Vis and Covert patrols based on your reports. Increased stop checks of people and vehicles acting suspiciously.  Working alongside the BCP Council Anti-Social Behaviour Team to get civil orders in place against persistent offenders.

Shoplifting

Since March this year your NPT has launched Op Turnover which is a specific Operation to target prolific shoplifters within your community. We have already seen significant results and prison time as a result.

We do this by contacting the stores directly, building up a working relationship with them and identifying the suspects. As a Team we then use overt and covert tactics to locate the individuals so they can be dealt with. We have Days of action targeting this every month or so and will continue this through Autumn and into Winter.

Some of this information comes from the local community. This can be through conversations on the street with officers, through 101 or on-line reporting and also Social Media groups like SoBo. These can be a great assistance when trying to tackle local problems for local people.
