Issue Date Sunday 31st December 2023

Update: 13 December 2023 - Vulnerability Reduction

We continue to work with our partner agencies with a multi-agency approach to protecting members of the public. We attend schools and give inputs into assemblies as well as community events and work to engage with the parts of our communities which are hard to reach.

We are seeing a higher population due to the Summer period of transient people into our areas and again are working with our partners to safeguard the vulnerable and deal with anti-social behaviour through pro-active patrols. We use Hot-spot patrols in order to focus where we are receiving the most reports and intelligence to focus on the areas where there is the most demand to prevent and protect the vulnerable. These types of patrols are proven to disrupt criminality and prevent crime.

Dangerous drugs networks

Dangerous Drugs Networks

(Including county lines) with a focus on Associated Serious Violence and Exploitation

County Lines are drug dealing networks where vulnerable people of all ages are used by drug dealers to courier drugs and money across the Country. They will often force a vulnerable person to allow them to take up residence in their home (this is known as cuckooing) to sell drugs in the local area.

We are comitted to tackling this issue both with persuing the offenders and working with partner agencies to address the causes that allow County Lines dealers to exist and plight our communities.

Issue Date Wednesday 6th July 2022

Update: 02 August 2022 - Dangerous Drugs Networks

DANGEROUS DRUGS NETWORKS 02/08/2022

We are continuing to develop intelligence around Dangerous Drugs Networks as well as prevention by supporting individuals and those at risk and signposting to partner agencies where it is appropriate.

On Wednesday 20th July 2022 we conducted a Warrant under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act on two addresses in the Penzance area and a quantity of suspected heroin was seized as well as cash and items associated with County Lines Drug Dealing. Persons at risk were safeguarded within this process.

On Wednesday 20th July 2022 officers in Hayle conducted searches following a stop and search of a male under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and again a large quantity of suspected heroin, items associated with County Lines dealing and cash was seized and the person remains under investigation.

We are also engaged in a process with other partner agencies where information is shared with a view to supporting those at risk and areas where outreach work would be beneficial. This is a whole system approach with everyone working together to target the Dangerous Drugs Networks that are plighting our communities.

In the St Ives area, officers continue to conduct patrols based on information received to target areas where drug misuse is reported and deal with offences.
