Neighbourhood Priorities
Anti-Social Behaviour
Issue Date Monday 30th September 2024
Update: 30 September 2024 - September Update
As we come into the Autumn, we reflect on our busy summer. Our priorities will remain the same as we enter September, with an increased interest in our drugs and anti-social behaviour priorities to reflect the wishes of our communities. We have been at many events across the summer, and it was so good to see so many of you. Our neighbourhood team are looking at setting up new and innovative surgeries to access your communities in the coming weeks so please keep an eye on our social media pages and this website for details of those as they are published. As ever we could not do the work we do without information from you all, so please get in touch by the appropriate channels.
Update: 30 September 2024 - September Update
Action Date Monday 30th September 2024
Drugs
Drugs are directly linked to both violence and ASB in our community, and clearly contribute towards these other two priorities. We are working hard to build our intelligence picture to and reduce drug related crimes on our streets. This is a national issue, identified by local problems, and have a real community impact. We rely heavily upon community based intelligence, and what you see could be the missing piece to our puzzle. So please either report anonymously to Crime Stoppers, or directly to Devon and Cornwall Police.

The tragic events in Bodmin of last year require this priority to remain, as we continue to work closely with partners to make our communities safer with various preventative tactics to reduce serious violence and the impact that it has upon our local society. We have been paying particular attention to Knife Crime and Youth related violence in our community, and shall continue to do so.

Update
Happy Easter!
Patrol teams have been hard at work across the holidays as reportedly some 400,000 visitors came down for the Bank Holiday weekend to visit Devon and Cornwall. Typically the weather was not the best, however we hope they had a good time nonetheless. We continue to work hard in line with the priorities that I have previously highlighted to you, and are plugging away at various pieces of planned activity. This has included a successful Drugs Warrant in Wadebridge, as well as swift prosecution of a male from Bodmin committing Criminal Damages to vehicles.
I must also lay reference to the verdicts of the trial from Operation Limbas, the murder of Michael Riddiough-Allen, in Bodmin last year. As we approach the anniversary of those tragic events, sentencing is scheduled and we will await the results of the hard teamwork from the investigation teams. We continue to try and increase our visibility in the sector at various events and patrols in targeted areas. With this in mind, we have a new member joining the Wadebridge Neighbourhood Team next week, which I hope will help in time for the increased demand across the summer.
As I mention Summer, our schedule is ramping up and we will be present at a number of events across the period. Most notable of those are Obby Oss in Padstow in May and then the Royal Cornwall Show in June. Please do come and say hello if you see us. Our Facebook page is regularly updated with what the local Neighbourhood Team are up to so please check it out!
Inspector Adam Stonehill (Sector Inspector)
Issue Date Wednesday 3rd April 2024
Update: 08 April 2024 - Arrest and Drugs Seized
On Friday 5th April two males were arrested and drugs seized following a proactive operation.
Officers from the Bodmin Neighbourhood Team and Force Support Group acted on intelligence from the community about suspected illegal activity.
The Misuse of Drugs Act warrant was carried out at a property near the town centre where we seized around £800 in cash and a quantity of Class A & B drugs.
Two males from Nottingham, aged 17 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs and they remain in police custody.
Sector Inspector Adam Stonehill said: "This was a great result for the team this morning and is an example of how we can act on information from the community.
"Drugs supply and the associated crimes have such a negative impact on people and communities and we won’t tolerate this behaviour here.
"We will continue to take a robust approach and act on information about suspected illegal activity, so if something is happening where you live, please report it."
Action Date Monday 8th April 2024
Priorities
As we come into Spring 2024, our priorities in Bodmin Sector remain the same as the second half of 2023.
We managed to build some great momentum across the Sector with some excellent results in the latter part of the year, but I think this emphasises the need to keep on going with our current objectives.
Therefore, the current Policing Priorities for Bodmin Sector are as follows;
Serious Violence
The tragic events in Bodmin of last year require this priority to remain, as we continue to work closely with partners to make our communities safer with various preventative tactics to reduce serious violence and the impact that it has upon our local society. We have been paying particular attention to Knife Crime and Youth related violence in our community, and shall continue to do so.
Persistent and Severe ASB
Anti-Social Behaviour is something we are passionate about in Devon and Cornwall Police as a whole. We work closely with partners to problem-solve local issues, to ensure that everyone feels comfortable within their local community.

Update: 12 August 2024 - Summer Policing Update
AUGUST UPDATE!!!
With Summer Policing in full swing, I thought it poignant to update you all with regards to some happenings with regards to what we have been up to in Bodmin Sector. Our patrol officers have been working incredibly hard of late responding to your calls for service. With Boardmasters this weekend, we saw an increase of traffic through the sector, and naturally we were busier as a result. This is combined with the national policing picture, and I am incredibly proud of how our officers represented the force in these efforts.
July saw our policing operation in Polzeath, whereby we deployed to the sudden influx of visitors to the beach at the beginning of the school holidays. This was incredibly successful and welcomed by the local residents.
As for August, there is a flurry of community events all over the Sector. We were able to attend Mikes Trust Rugby Fun Day this weekend, as well as Bodmin Fire Open Day which were both fantastic events and well attended by the community. It was great to see so many of you at these events, and with many more events on the cards please do come and say hello if you see us!
In line with our priorities, we have made some real positive disruptions in recent times with regards to drugs supply within Bodmin Town Centre. We have been able to develop intelligence, and pursue suspects of crime as a result of this and we will not be stopping this momentum. In the last week we have made 3 arrests with a large amount of controlled substances seized. A lot of this disruption has stemmed from your information and intelligence reported to us, and I can only encourage you to keep the information coming.
The knock-on effects for our communities of this activities can be truly detrimental. We will continue to strive and take positive action against these activities and linked behaviours within the town, to strive to keep you as safe as we can.
Update: 04 June 2024 - Update
Royal Cornwall Show is nearly here!
If you are planning on attending the show from Thursday 6 June- Saturday 8 June, make sure you plan your route in advance as there will be a temporary 30MPH speed limit in place along the A39 at Hals Grave and we expect there will be heavy traffic in the area across all three days of the show.
We encourage those attending the show to pre-plan their journeys home and nominate a designated sober driver before attending the show in a bid to ensure our roads are kept safe and free from drink drivers. We take a zero-tolerance approach to drink driving, and road safety officers will be patrolling the local road network to keep everyone safe.
We urge everyone to be mindful of their behaviour, and we would like to reiterate we will not tolerate anti-social behaviour. The team will be carrying out high visibility foot patrols throughout each day of the show, and in the surrounding areas after the show finishes each day.
We hope everyone has an enjoyable time at the Royal Cornwall Show, and please do come and say hello to us if you see us there!

Wadebridge police are encouraging residents who do not want to be bothered by trick-or-treaters to place a poster on the front door or window of their home. Some people, particularly if elderly or vulnerable, might be distressed by strangers knocking at their door during the evening. Officers are asking people not to call at homes that are displaying the poster. Print this poster and display on your home, or on the homes of your vulnerable neighbours or relatives.

A number of anti-social behaviour warning letters have been issued and the local policing team will continue to monitor and progress the matters where appropriate.
Update: 21 December 2020 - 25/09/2019
We have had reports of anti-social behaviour along Egloshayle Road near to the Bowling Green and War Memorial. We will target these areas and continue to drive down ASB in Wadebridge.
Update: 21 December 2020 - ASB update 02/02/2019
Wadebridge Police are aware that there may have been some incidents of Anti-Social behaviour in the area near the Co-op during the period of snowfall.
We are asking that any incidents of ASB in the Wadebridge area are reported directly to police via either the 101 telephone system or email to [email protected].
It appears that reports of ASB are being reported to social media sites like 'Love Wadebridge' and not being reported to the local policing team. For us to take positive action we need these reports and any witnesses willing to provide their details to keep us informed.
Some really positive news: Our new 'Neighbourhood Beat Manager', PC Amy Honeywill has joined us in Wadebridge. She has already been out on foot patrol meeting the local community and is looking forward to some positive engagement in the coming weeks.
The local policing teams will continue to patrol the local areas identified at potential hotspots.
Sgt Sue Honeywill
Update: 21 December 2020 - ASB Update
Police continue to receive some reports of ASB in and around the Wadebridge area. However, these do appear to be on the decline. I do suspect that with the warming weather soon to be upon us.... (Fingers crossed) That reports may increase.
Please can I remind everyone, that it only takes a few individuals, behaving in an anti-social manner to ruin it for others. Please be respectful and if you do see any ASB please do not hesitate to report to your local policing team;
Update: 21 December 2020 - Further Reports of ASB
Police have received further reports of anti-social behaviour involving youths in and around the areas of Southern Way, The Platt, Jubilee field and Egloshayle Park. Vulnerable victims have been targeted with eggs being thrown, verbal abuse and other criminal acts.

This officers sole purpose is to carry out foot patrol in the town centre and tackle Anti-Social Behaviour.
Update: 21 December 2020 - Further Reports of ASB
Police have received further reports of ASB in the Jubilee Park area. The local Neighbourhood Team will be out and about throughout the half term and anyone acting in an anti- social manner will be dealt with accordingly.
Please be courteous and remember that young children play in the park area and do not want to hear foul language and have to pick up litter left by others.
In June 2019, the local neighbourhood Team will be out and about with our partner agencies carrying out a ‘Have your Say’ survey. This will be a great opportunity for anyone with any concerns to raise them with the ASB Cornwall Council Case worker for the area.
Update: 21 December 2020 - Update on ASB
Police are monitoring reports of anti-social behaviour within the Wadebridge town area. To ensure we have a true picture of the problem, Police undertook a ‘Primary Tasking’ throughout November to monitor the situation. The tasking was for further patrols during the evenings. (When operational policing allowed) I am pleased to report that although we had a one report of ASB, all other engagements with some of our local young people were very positive. A few even enjoyed having a look and taking some pictures inside the police van.
With the colder weather, we have noticed that a number of young people do congregate outside the Co-op. We are assuming that this is to stay out of the wet. However, if any further problems are reported, we do encourage the public to continue to report, so we can take positive action.
Update: 21 December 2020 - 'Have your Say' coming soon
Wadebridge Police will soon be out and about in the community with the ASB caseworker from Cornwall Council.
It will be your opportunity to talk about any ASB issues you are experiencing in the Wadebridge area.
Update: 21 December 2020 - 'Have Your Say'
Recently, PCSO Pete Sobye was joined by Cornwall Councillor Karen McHugh and ASB Caseworker, Sarah Dundon and together they carried out doorstop 'Have Your Say' surveys in the area.
We are waiting for these forms to be collected and we can then analyse the responses and form a working plan to tackle any issues.
Update: 21 December 2020 - Update 11/03/2019
Wadebridge Police attended the Wadebridge Pubwatch meeting recently. There, we showed the licensees present, examples of fake ID which can be bought on the internet. Some examples were 'Driving Permit', 'National ID Card' among others.
In a warning to those in posession of these cards, and who use them to obtain alcohol when underage, Police reassured those present that they could sieze these cards and refuse the sale. Police would attend and collect the cards for destruction on a regular basis.
This also appears to be a possible way in which some are obtaining alcohol and tobacco products while underage and increasing the amount of ASB in Wadebridge by consuming the alcohol on the streets.
This behaviour will not be tolerated and anyone underage found in posession of alcohol of cigarettes / tobacco, they will be dealt with robustly.
Update: 21 December 2020 - Anti-Social Behaviour Update
Neighbourhood Teams, in response to an increase in coastal Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) have been working with the Cornwall Council ASB caseworker, Environmental Protection Officer, Beach Ranger and liaising with the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) Lifeguards and other key partners to reduce ASB and increase public reassurance for both locals and visitors alike on our local beaches.
Action Date Monday 21st December 2020
Target Hardening for Empty Holiday / 2nd Homes
The areas of Rock, Polzeath and Port Isaac naturally see a massive increase in population during the summer months. This is due, in part to the number of 2nd homes in the area. While we want visitors to have a great time in the area, the increase generally means an increase in ASB and low level crime and disorder.
As a result, The Wadebridge and Bodmin Policeing Teams will be paying particular attention to these areas over the winter months.
Issue Date Wednesday 2nd August 2017
Update: 06 June 2020 - * Update 06/06/2020 *
During this Covid-19 Pandemic, we have inclreased our patrols in the usual locations occupied by second / holiday homes.
The owners of these homes are using the Covid-19 Pandemic as a reason to come down and visit their properties, which are not their primary residences.
These Covid breaches are being dealt with as, at the time of writing, it is not permitted to stay away from your primary residence.
Patrols will continue and people in these properties will be asked to account for their presence.
Update: 19 February 2020 - Update 13/02/2018
We have increased the number and frequency of patrols in the areas containing second homes. As a result, the number of reported incidents at these locations has decreased.
We will continue to carry out these patrols to keep these numbers low.
