This Safer Neighbourhood area covers the town of Eckington, 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Chesterfield and 8.5 miles (14 km) southeast of Sheffield on the border with South Yorkshire. It belongs to the North East Local Policing Unit.
 
Eckington is a town that grew mainly as a result of the now greatly diminished mining industry, with a population in excess of 11 thousand people. The town has several active residents groups and parish council, with a range of schools from infant to a sixth form college.

1. This includes the involvement of specialist units working with SNT and ANPR monitoring. High visibility Patrols in the relevant areas. Encourage the public to report anything unusual.
2. High visibility burglary patrols, offering reassurance to the community and a deterrent to prospective criminals active and ASB in the area due to an increase in reported theft related crimes. Crime prevention advice and leaflet drop for the hotspot areas where acquisitive crime is prevalent. Street meets will be the main source of engagement. School Visits, to engage with the school children making them aware of ASB and responsibilities. SNT follow up visits are being completed at properties affected by Burglaries and crime prevention advice is given at cupper with a copper and other community events.
