Buxton is a historic spa town located within the High Peak Borough Council area, approximately 20 miles north of Matlock and 12 miles south of Glossop. It has many buildings of architectural interest, the University of Derby Campus at the former Devonshire Hospital and the Opera House being examples. Tourism is an important feature in the revenue of the area.

1. Local neighbourhood team have been working hard to prevent prolific offenders from committing further crimes with the use of criminal behaviour orders (CBO’s). The police can utilise CBOs to tackle the most serious and persistent offenders, and if granted by a court, these will include prohibitions to stop the criminal and any anti-social behaviour associated with them. Closure orders have also been issued to a number of properties in key areas around the Fairfield road area of Buxton. These properties housed many prolific offenders and the anti-social behaviour linked with them was heavy burden on police time and resources. 2. Local Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to liaise with local shops and staff, giving advice and handing out retail theft evidential packs. Gathering intelligence from members of the public and shop staff is key to helping identify suspects and targeting offenders. SNT will also continue with regular foot patrols in and around Buxton.
3. Regular patrols to be carried out, particularly around Schools at drop off and pick up times. Speed watch in highlighted areas and liaising with local community speed watch members to allow them to be involved. Vehicle stop checks and TORs to be handed out where appropriate. If necessary, Section 59s to be issued, with particular attention paid to the carparks around Waitrose and Pavilion Gardens.
