This Safer Neighbourhood area covers Ashbourne. It belongs to the Derbyshire Dales Local Policing Unit. The historical market town of Ashbourne is situated at the gateway to Dovedale and the Peak District. It is famous throughout the world for its annual Shrovetide football match when the 'upards' play the 'downards'. It is played in the streets, fields and waterways, with each goal three miles apart. Thousands of people attend the event which is held over Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.
