Neighbourhood Priorities
Prolific Shoplifting
Shoplifting is an ever increasing occurrence which results in local businesses losing valuable revenue.
This has increased both locally and nationally with the cost of living crisis.
Issue Date Tuesday 12th March 2024
Update: 24 September 2024 - August Update
We continue to engage with business in the town centres and villages around shoplifting. Various persons have been dealt with who are prolific including a male breaching their criminal behaviour order who has been charged and will be appearing in court. We will continue to target those committing thefts and are grateful to the shops and businesses for reporting.
Update: 11 August 2024 - July Update
This month we continue to focus on shoplifting as this significantly impacts businesses and is linked to other forms of criminality such as ASB. With help from our neighbourhood support team a prolific persistent offender who had recently been released from prison for shoplifting was arrested for shoplifting and once again remanded to custody. We are seeking a CBO on this person to prevent this behaviour. We will continue to target and deal robustly with those offending and bring them before the courts.
Update: 09 July 2024 - June Update
During June we have been focusing on hotpot patrols and liaising with businesses wherever possible to prevent and detect shoplifting. We have seen a decrease in figures with the recent arrests of several prolific offenders and we will continue to focus our efforts in this area.
Update: 12 March 2024 - Prolific Shoplifting
We will be providing additional training to businesses to help us gather evidence to enable successful prosecutions against repeat offenders during March 2024. We will also be offering crime prevention advice as well as pursuing persistent offenders.

Violence against Women and Girls
Tackling Violence against Women and Girls is a priority. The harm caused to victims and society by violence against women and girls in all its forms- including but not limited to harassment, stalking, rape, sexual assault, murder, honour-based abuse, coercive control - is immeasurable.

Update: 24 September 2024 - August Update
We have been working closely with the police licensing officer and continue to engage with those in the night time economy in relation to violence against women and girls. We are being assisted in hot spot patrols by street marshals who are patrolling in Camborne Town Centre and assisting police by providing community information and intelligence and being an additional visible presence. We continue to prioritise this area and there will be continued licensing operations and patrols.
Update: 11 August 2024 - July Update
Violence against Women and girls remains a priority. Summer evening patrols are continuing in our hotspot areas which are providing both reassurance and a visible deterrent. We continue to work closely with our partner agencies in relation to Bystander training and we ensure we are linked in with pubwatch where we attend monthly meetings to share information and gather intelligence.
Update: 04 July 2024 - June Update
During June a male was arrested in relation to up-skirting offences. He has been remanded to prison by the courts. Over the Summer we have additional evening patrols in our hotspot areas to ensure the safety of everyone. These areas are spaces such as the beach, parks and town centres. Please report any suspicious activity.

Dangerous Drugs Networks
A significant amount of crime and ASB is linked to drugs. We are committed to tackling and disrupting drug related ASB, County Lines, Organised Crime Groups and Criminal Exploitation.
Issue Date Tuesday 12th March 2024
Update: 24 September 2024 - August Update
Dangerous Drugs Networks continue to be a focus. Drugs are linked to Anti-Social behaviour and crime and have a negative impact to our communities. This month one of the focuses of the neighbourhood team has been on safeguarding visits to numerous addresses where persons were being believed to be exploited by others. The team have worked with partner agencies to ensure they are protected. This is a really important area of work around drug misuse and we really appreciate the publics support in reporting concerns.
Update: 11 August 2024 - July Update
We work with partner agencies sharing intelligence and information in relation to drug use and supply in the area. We have had several arrests for possession of drugs during July and this area continues to be a focus. Dangerous drugs networks and County Lines are a priority and we will deal robustly. We rely on the support of the community in providing information and supporting us, so please continue to do so.
Update: 04 July 2024 - June Update
We have been busy during June with planned drugs warrants. 3 warrants have been executed this month and a quantity of class A and B drugs, cash, knives, machetes, and suspected stolen property has been seized. This goes a long way to disrupting the drugs networks operating in our community and the investigations are ongoing.
A huge thanks to the community for the support in giving us information that enables this activity to take place. Please continue to support us and report crimes, incidents and intelligence.

This means that if they continue to offend we can go through court processes in order to prosecute and put conditions in place to prevent the continued behaviour as well as ensure support services are in place. We are seeking Criminal Behaviour Orders on several persons and have focused our patrols on Camborne and Redruth town centres.
We will continue our efforts in this area working closely with the Council anti social behaviour officer and other partner agencies.
Update: 11 August 2024 - July Update
Anti-social behaviour within Camborne and Redruth remains an issue which we are focused on dealing with. We patrol wherever possible and this month a persistent offender has been issued with a community protection notice to prevent this behaviour. We are also seeking a Criminal Behaviour order on one prolific offender which is a really good tool in ensuring that people can enjoy the town and go about their business without being disrupted by those who cause issues and act in a disorderly fashion. Reporting is improving which helps us know the overall picture, so please keep reporting issues and provide as much detail as you can. We again work closely with our partners to ensure persons have the appropriate help and support.
Update: 04 July 2024 - June update
We continue to focus on our town Centres. During June several persons have been arrested near to Camborne Town Centre for offences such as being drunk and disorderly and public order. They have all been charged to court and are awaiting sentencing. We know there are lots of issues within the town that go unreported so we would encourage you to report wherever you can as it allows us to build a true picture of where the issues are in relation to ASB and target our resources. It also allows for partnership work around the ASB escalation process and support to be put in place.
